Social Media Review Process

Quick Tip!

At the end of each week, send the project’s PM Team member the content you posted during the week so they can update the social media spreadsheet!

Purpose of Social Media Reviews

The Comm Team Lead should review all social media content before they are posted to ensure the posts include relevant information; have a purpose that resonates with the Digital Corps; use the Corps’ voice; and adhere to correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Check out this Digital Corps Voice guide to familiarize yourself with the Digital Corps Voice.

The Comm Team Lead will also make sure posts are scheduled for strategic days, if applicable (i.e. the New Year’s video should be posted on New Year’s Day).

The Review Process

Social media reviews should include a document with the following week’s social media content. Before sending a social media review, proofread the social media content and question if the content aligns with the Digital Corps’ target audiences (see template and example below!). The week before content is scheduled to be posted, it should be sent though Slash Reviews to the Comm Team Lead by the end of the day Wednesday. Respond to feedback promptly to ensure content is ready to post the following week.

Template

Topic: Identify the topic of the post.

Caption: Draft a caption that includes all relevant information, tagged people and/or organizations, hashtags (if applicable), and a CTA. Bold tagged accounts.

Example

Day in the Life Video – Ken Winner

Ball State University alumnus Ken Winner showed us a day in his life as a Chief Technology Officer at Voxi.

Immediate Posts

Sometimes the social media managers may need to post immediate content that they were unable to plan a week in advance. Maybe there was an unexpected event or news, or maybe the Social Media Videos team just completed a new video.

In this case, social media content does not need to go through Slash Reviews. Instead, the Comm Team Lead will begin a thread in the #social-media-and-blogging channel in Slack. Post your caption in the thread following the same template above. Remember to not post your content until the Comm Team Lead approves of it!

Conclusion

Essentially, the Comm Team Lead serves as an extra pair of eyes, checking that the Corps’ social media content is intentional and free of mistakes, so take time to analyze and proofread the content and make the Comm Team Lead’s suggested changes!
