Survey Reports
Quick Tip!
Your recommendations are based on and reflect the results and conclusions drawn from the survey.
The Digital Corps uses surveys to collect data about behaviors, opinions, and experiences. This information helps the Corps make decisions about the systems being created, whether it is about design, user flow, navigation, or another aspect.
Overview | Methodology | Demographics
The Overview is a short paragraph that reminds the reader of the project and the purpose of the survey.
The Methodology reviews the details of the survey:
- How many questions are in the survey?
- What types of questions are in the survey (Likert, multiple choice, open-ended, etc.)?
- How the survey was distributed (email, Slack, Ball State Comm Center)?
The Demographics section describes the survey participants based on the target audience of the project:
- Age
- Gender
- Education level
- Area of study
Results – Question by question
In order to gather data in an accurate and efficient way, break down the results question by question. Graphs, quantitative and qualitative data, and explanations of results provides an opportunity to discover and identify patterns in the results. Depending on the platform used for the survey (Qualtrics, Google Forms, Microsoft Forms), graphs may already be created based on the results. However, if the graph does not accurately portray the results you want to showcase, Microsoft Excel is an excellent tool to use for graph creation. Use tables with the appropriate headers to present data collected from the survey.
Include each question from the survey along with a statement or two about the results and a graph that visually shows those results. These statements are straightforward and clearly reflect the survey results.
Conclusions and Considerations
The conclusions drawn are based on survey results. From these conclusions, accurate and effective recommendations are made for any changes or considerations for design and development of the system. These are straightforward for staff and employees working on the system to have a clear understanding of next steps for the system.
