Helpful Steps for Logging Footage
Sometimes logging footage can be overwhelming. Here are a few steps that make logging footage smooth.
- Organize Your RAW Footage: Organizing hard drives and footage is important for an effective workflow. Renaming your files and putting them into folders in a similar layout as your editing bin will assure a smooth and easy flow. Post Haste is a great file organizer software to help with this process.
- Start Your Premiere Project: Starting your project and organizing your bins are good ways to prepare for the logging process. It is easy to log time codes and sort what you have. This Digital Corps Premiere Pro template will help with organizing your project.
- Review the Footage You Have: This will be the longest part of the logging process. Review all the footage, so you are aware of all the options you have. Once you find the important sections, use the link provided above to record the process.
- Remove What You Don’t Need: After reviewing your footage, you will know what you HAVE to have and what is not necessary. Instead of deleting the footage you don’t need, try putting it in a separate “trash” bin, just in case you need it in the future.
- Start Editing: Now that your logging is complete, you can use it to make your post production process smooth and stress free.
