I’m graduating and I need a job! Who do I talk to? (It’s alumni!)

Quick Tip!

Digital Corps alumni continue to serve as a key part of our community. When preparing to graduate, use this resource to make new connections, learn about growing opportunities in the industry, and expand your network around the country.

Preparing to graduate is nerve-wracking. Finishing final assignments, saying your final goodbyes, and of course, finding a job to kickstart your professional career. Digital Corps alums have been through the exact same process, and felt the exact same way! However, now that many are established in strong careers around the country, our alums are more than willing to help you find your spot in the professional world. Here are some ways to use our alumni resources.

The Ultimate Info Sheet

The Ultimate Info Sheet enables Digital Corps employees to learn more about their coworkers. However, using the software to discover more about our alums creates an amazing opportunity for you to make connections with a wealth of professionals around the country.

  1. First, visit the Ultimate Info Sheet. (Don’t forget about the matching game to learn everyone’s name!)
  2. On the main screen, filter out current staff and students by clicking on the tabs on the left.
  3. Activate the “Alumni” tab to show all alumni.
  4. From there, you can explore past team members, find their emails and phone number, view their current portfolios, and maybe even discover their theme song!

LinkedIn

You may have noticed not every alum in the Ultimate Info Sheet has updated information. LinkedIn is a great resource to augment your search for alums and their information. Try searching for alums you find in the Ultimate Info Sheet and send them a Connection Request with the following message (which has been optimized and sized properly for LinkedIn).

Hi [ALUMNI NAME],

My name is [YOUR NAME] and I’m a student working with the Digital Corps at BSU. I’m currently preparing for my career after graduation and your job sounds interesting to me. Would you have some time to chat about what you do and how you ended up at [COMPANY THAT ALUMNI WORKS AT]?

Aside from searching for our alumni, Ball State University has an organized database of alums available to you as a student.

  1. Access the Ball State University LinkedIn page. You can find updates from the University, employee information, job openings at the University and more.
  2. Click on the alumni tab on the left side of the screen to access a list of more than 100,000 Ball State alums from around the world.
  3. Filter BSU alums by title, keywords and the company they work at by using the search bar.
