Lighting Equipment

Quick Tip!

Make sure to start setting up light stands from the top, this will allow for the easiest reach for adjustments if lights need to be raised in the middle of production.

Helpful Staff for this Topic

Lighting is a key piece to every video production. Without proper lighting, a production cannot start and there is a high chance of issues occurring in the post-production process. When considering which lighting equipment to use, there are three general kits used by staff and students at the Corps.

  • Kino Flo Light Kit
  • LED Lite Panels
  • Lowell Light Kit

Kino Flo Light Kit

This video shows how to set up the Kino Flo Light Kit. The kit has two lights that can change color temperature with two fluorescent bars that vary in color temperature from 5600K light (daylight) down to 3200K light (tungsten).

LED Lite Panel

This video shows how to set up the LED Lite Panels. Each kit has 4 light panels that can change color temperature with one knob on the back. This knob changes color temperature from 5600K light (daylight) down to 3200K light (tungsten). The additional knob on the back of the panel adjusts the intensity of the light. At the Digital Corps, this kit and other LED panels are used frequently for interviews and social media narrative-based content.

Quick Tip!

We use the Astra Panel Light kits for many shoots at the Corps. They are very similar to the LED Lite Panels shown in the video above. The Astra Light kit comes with two lights, two stands, and two soft boxes. These lights also require the Anton Bauer batteries. When checking these out, you also get one Neewer light panel to use as an edge light for interviews.

Lowell Light Kit

This video shows how to set up the Lowell Light kit. Each kit has 3 Lowell lights that warm up to work, and can become very hot. These lights typically stay around 3200K light (tungsten). Be sure to use temperature resistance gloves when operating any bulbed light kits.
